A rare case of Kaposi sarcoma

<p>Classic Kaposi sarcoma (KS) is a rare type of cancer that develops in endothelial cells in the skin. This unusual neoplastic disorder was first described by Moritz Kaposi in 1872. It is predominantly found in men between the ages of 50 and 80 who are of Mediterranean ancestry. The incidence of classic Kaposi sarcoma in men in northern Italy has been estimated at 2.5 per 100,000 (Ascoli et al, 2001).</p>
